The last post!

Hello dear classmates and teacher!

Hoy es mi ultimo post, y es sobre este curso!

Today is my last post and it’s about this class!
About this class I can say that it´s always been a complicated subject for me. Since elementary school I’ve never had a good education in English. This is why it’s always been so hard for me to learn. In high school had a good teacher, but it was still very hard, and in the end I learned very little.
When I started college I was in English 2, and I’ve been having to pass every English class, this is the last one!
Particularly, in this class I liked it more than the other ones, because the classes were more dynamic, we sang and interacted, and we even watched movies!

The things that I liked the most was the blog, I always liked it. It was entertaining to write some things about what I like or something that happened to me. It helped me to learn new words and to improve my writing.

For me it is very clear that I have a lot of English to learn yet, specially speaking nd listening. When I listen I get distracted and its hard to understand the words, and when I speak I get nervous and I go blank. But all is practice. I attempt to take and English course when I finish college, to dedicate more time and focus on only this.

In general, I don’t use English much outside the class, sometimes with my friends we practice, to learn more, but it’s not often. I don’t use English that much, the music I listen is all in Spanish, and I don’t watch many movies.

Well, that’s all!
I would like to thank the teacher and my classmates for what I learned. This class was very fun and very pleasant! Thank a lot for this experience!

I hope that you do well at this end of this semester! Good luck for this!

Good bye!

My future job!

Hello dear classmates and teacher!

Today I' going to tell you about my future job!!!
This topic is really complicated, because I'm in my fourth year of sociology, and in the next year I will be graduate...So I need to think about this! because there is very little time and there is much to do...

I would like to work researching about the social problems! Specifically, about education, history, memory and city planing! In this term I take different s courses such as education sociology, or urban sociology, and for this I could learn more about this topics, and I really like this research areas.

So, I would like work researching about the education and society, the city planing and problems like social segregate, exclusion and marginal urban.

I know that it's really hard to find a job, but when I choosing my job I'm going to consider the kind of work (researching, surveys, interview), the main aim of the work, and the duration.

And about my strengths I can say tat I'm a person really responsible, hard-working, committed and I can work under pressure...And about my weaknesses I can say that I have a very strong character, and I'm very critical with my work...

Finally, I can say that I pretend can work like sociology, but I would like work in other things too. For example, when I live the university I want to study History in Argentina. Also I would like have an presses! I think that this work is really fun. I would like have a culture centre too!!... When I talk with my friends about the future, we plan have different s activities such as a printing house, pub, library, and coffee house! and all in the same street for work together, and with this we can do some more from the typical!
And! This is all for today! See You!

Paulo Freire

Hello dear classmates and teacher!!

Today I'm going to talk about Paulo Freire, a Brazilian teacher.
He was born on september 19th, 1921, in Recife, Brazil.
When He was a child he suffer from poverty due to the great depression of 1929. This experience made him interest in the poor, and it also helped him to build his education proposal. He study philosophy and psychology in the Faculty of law of the University of Recife. But he never practice his profession. Instead he chose to teach  Portuguese in a Highschool of Brazil.  In one of his books, Paulo Freire tells how he decided to drop out of law and become a teacher. He talks about a meeting he had once with a client, and he tells him he is going to be seize by debts, and he was so sad that asked him for help. To hear this and figure out that there was way to help him out, he decided to quit, because this will gave him another week to find another lawyer. This was an excuse, it was a way of helping, but it was also a time to make a decision. Freire felt like the only way to help out was teaching.
In 1944, he married Elza Maia Costa de Oliveira, an a elementary school teacher.
He worked with poor children who didn't know how to read or write. He created a different method to learn how to read and write.  In 1964 was State's coup in Brazil and for this Paulo Freire was imprison for 70 days. He was exile to Bolivia, and then to Chile.
Finally, he died on may 2th, in 1997, in Brazil.
He publish his first book in 1967 called "The education as practice of freedom". The most famous book that he wrote was "Pedagogy of the oppressed"
I like Paulo Freire because is an example of compromise, passion, and dedication.

And to reflect, I leave a sentence by Paulo Freire about education:
"To teach to read and write, is not learn how to repeat words, but rather is to learn how to say your own word"

How green you are?

Hello dear classmates and teacher

Today I'm going to talk about how green I am...
First! I think that people can learn more about enviromentally friendly practices in their schools, because is a space to learn where they can teach you about the basic things of life and how to take care of it...For this, if in schools this subject was more important the children would have a better grounding from the begginging

In my family, and my school never talk about that...For example, We never recycle!. I remember that in a course of a secondary called "technology", the teacher talk us about the recycle...but this was in one opportunity...
I must recognize that I don't know much about taking care of the enviroment, this is why I don`t participate in any organization of this type. Sometimes I get informed by the news, but this never happens really, so I don't know much about it

About use a bike or my legs instead of a car...I can say that I always transport in a bus, because I leave in MaipĂș, so the university is really far of my house, for this I can't use a bike, for example...But when I go near of my house, always I walk...

I would like to know more about this topic, and can do things for help. For example: recycle, use a bike or my legs instead a car (or bus), a plant a tree, or use a ecologic products ...
Finaly, If in our society there would be more awareness of taking care for the enviroment, Santagio would be a better place for live!

And this is all!!
See You!!

The memory and documentaries

Hello dear classmates and teacher!

Today it's a  free post, so I'm going to talk about the subject of memory in the documentaries!
I like this topic because when I began to study sociology I was really interested in this, actually I wanted to study History! because I have always been interest in the past...But in the sociology this subject is not important in comparison with other topics such as the theory, gender or social structure...So, thanks to one friend I could take part in a class about the documentaries and memory, and here I recovered my interest in this topic!, and this time was more fun because I could learn about the memory but through the documentaries.
This class was part of a course about Chilean documentaries, of the film faculty. In this opportunity, the teacher talk about the documentaries and how the film director can tell us the memory through his or her personal story, or the social story. I think that the documentaries are a really god instrument for show this topics, because through the frames, and sounds you can understand the history better.
The teacher mentioned some documentaries about this topic, such as "Calle Santa Fe", "La Memoria Obstinada", or "Nostalgias de la luz". I watched all this documentaries, and I really like them!! I recommend this documentaries to you!, Maybe you feel sad, angry or confusion, but I can ensure that you'll get to know a lot about own history!

Finally, I will leave you a quote about memory that was said on "La Memoria obstinada" by Patricio Guzman:

"Remember comes from the latin recordaris, and re means come back, and cordis means heart, so recordaris is to go back to the heart...to wake up"

And as a wise person said "That's all Folks"

Retails news

Hello dear classmates and teacher!

Today I’m going to summarize a new from the Guardian!
I had to choose a new between various news about different topics such as society, politics or culture…But in this opportunity I chose one about retail.
The title of this news is called “Retail sales climb 1.5% in September”, and explain how the retail sales climb in comparison with month before .
In the first part, the new points out this situation. Then, tries to explain the context of why retail sales are climbing and here it indicates that because the economic situation, people prefer to not spend their money, and they stop byuing products of retail.
Finally,  the new explains the causes about that, and points out that people are afraid of the economics situation, but for the time of year they have to spend money, for example, in clothes for their children, because in September they have return to school…
Another important thing is the contradiction in this situation because the prices of products climb, but the people economics get worse, and the retail sales climb too…

Sociology have very things to say about this topic, you can think that this new is about economics, but this changes also affect society! For this is very important that sociology relates with other subjects, because this can enrich the comprehension about society and its problems.
This is the lin of new:

Tango!

Hello dear classmates and teacher!

Today I have the opportunity of talk about what I want...
There are a lot of things that I would like to tell you, but in this ocassion I choose something different:
Tango

¿Why Tango? Because I love this music! I really like the songs!
As you know, the tango is a typical music from The Rio de la Plata. When you say "Tango" most people think in Argentina, but this music it's from a mixture of countries! Such as Uruguay, or other continent like Latin American, Europe, and Africa.
This music born about the middle of the 19th century!...You can say "It's a old-fashioned", but I think that it's a really great music because the song lirycs are very depth and poetic! Actually, I will leave you a video! It's a song by Roberto Goyeneche (an Argentinian singer of tango). This song is my favourite! Put attention to the lyric!!

In general, the lyrics are about the emotions like the nostalgia, love, and sadness. But the characteristic of the tango is the performance of the singers! because they express your feelings through its voice and acting.

The most famous singers of tango are Carlos Gardel, Julio Sosa, Roberto Goyeneche, and Libertad Lamarque.

Finally, one time I neard a definition of what is tango, and it made a lot of snese to me. This is why I leave it for you:
"Tango is the multitude divide in the lon eliness of a couple"
This is all about the Tango! I hope that you liked it!!

And as a wise person said: "That's all Folks"
